Rumblings get louder in AIADMK party

Madhusudhanan had openly accused Jayakumar of hurting his chances in the RK Nagar by-election (21 Dec, 2017).

Chennai: AIADMK presidium chairman E. Madhusudhanan has called the media for a 'bombshell' of an interaction at his residence noontime Tuesday amid reports that his longtime rival in the ruling party and fisheries minister D. Jayakumar has rocked his boat a bit too hard in the just-concluded cooperatives elections in their high-voltage north Chennai turf.

“There is too much of sarvaadhikaram (dictatorship) seen in the party now. I have complained about this to OPS (party coordinator) just now and will meet the CM tomorrow (Tuesday). I will speak to the media after that”, Madhusudhanan told Deccan Chronicle.

While he refused to divulge further details, sources close to him said OPS counseled patience saying that the intra-party hostilities could be sorted out at the AIADMK general council meeting (expected within a few weeks), but Madhusudhanan insisted on an “immediate solution to the growing assault” on his 'image' due to the intensified rivalry with Jayakumar. After the OPS meeting at the latter's ministerial bungalow at around 9 pm, Madhusudhanan took the decision to see the CM on Tuesday morning.

Madhusudhanan had openly accused Jayakumar of hurting his chances in the RK Nagar by-election (21 Dec, 2017), in which rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran scored a comfortable victory.

There have been reports that OPS too has been upset for a long time, complaining to close associates that he was being sidelined in the state administration.
