Chennai: The Dravidian majors - the DMK and AIADMK and also the Congress will participate in the memorial meeting of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the city on Tuesday.
Several leaders would pay tributes to the former Prime Minister Vajpayee, a statesman who took disparate parties and politicians along with him. Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan would participate in the meeting.
In a statement here, party state President Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, said AIADMK senior and State Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, DMK MP Kanimozhi, TNCC chief Su. Thirunavukkarasar and leaders of the PMK and VCK: G K Mani and Thol.Thirumavalavan, respectively, will also attend the meeting. The DMK’s ally, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will be represented by its leader and lone party MLA in Tamil Nadu Assembly K. A.M. Mohammed Abubacker.
Leaders of MDMK, CPI (Marxist) and CPI would also participate in the meeting. Vajpayee passed away on Aug. 16 following prolonged illness in New Delhi. He was 93.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam, DMK working president M. K. Stalin and Kanimozhi had paid homage to the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister at his residence in New Delhi, on Aug 17 and later to Vajpayee's ashes that were kept at Kamalalayam - BJP state headquarters, here (on Aug.23), before being immersed in the sea on Aug. 26.
