Visakhapatnam: There was no harm in parents attending the Amma Vodi programme, education minister Botsa Satyanarayana clarified talking to reporters after reviewing a meeting with officials in Vizianagaram on pending works.
“If not parents, who will come, cinema actors;” he asked. The minister maintained that the government will follow court orders, if any, issued in this regard.
Taking a dig at TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, Botsa pointed out that several areas have been completely submerged in Hyderabad, which the former CM often claims to have converted from an old city into Hi-Tech City.
“Delhi is submerged and so are many north Indian cities. This phenomenon is quite common. The opposition can rue about it if it happens every day,” the minister pointed out.
While reviewing the meeting, Botsa asked Vizianagaram collector S. Nagalakhsmi to complete the mutation process for Central Tribal University by next Monday. He pointed out that the university has been given 519 acres of land. Without mutation, works cannot be started on it, he told the collector.
He pointed out that as Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will shortly lay the foundation stone for the tribal university, basic works should be completed immediately.
The minister said each mandal in Vizianagaram has been sanctioned ₹60 lakh each to lay new roads and develop existing roads. When he was told that except for S. Kota and Rajam, proposals for works have been received from all constituencies, the minister called MLAs of the two constituencies over phone and asked them to send proposals immediately.
When asked about rain-related damages in the district, the collector informed Botsa that Vizianagaram has received 36 per cent excess rainfall. But no damages have been reported from any part of the district.
