Amit Shah visit to Hyderabad put off, rains play spoilsport with BJP plans

HYDERABAD: Union minister’s Amit Shah day-long visit here on July 29 to interact with state party leaders has been postponed again, this time due to the incessant rains.

Shah was to meet with senior BJP leaders and later follow it up with a meeting of representatives from various communities and professions.

The BJP said in a statement that a revised schedule of Shah’s visit would be announced later.

The party had been planning a visit by Shah to the state for sometime now, but every time his visit was announced, it got postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. He was to address a public meeting at Khammam in June but that visit was called off following Cyclone Biparjoy which affected Gujarat and Rajasthan and Shah was supervising the relief and rescue operations in the two states.

Later, the party planned another public meeting in Khammam on July 29, but the schedule was changed in view of the rains in the state. Instead, Shah was to visit Hyderabad for a day of meetings with party leaders, followed by a meeting with some 2000 representatives from various communities, including professionals from different sections of society.
