Left refutes M Karunanidhi's charges
In separate statements, CPI(M) and CPI dismissed DMK chief's charges saying that no decision is taken in the Communist parties by any individuals.

Chennai: CPI (M) and CPI has reacted strongly DMK president M. Karunanidhi’s remark that voices of communist ideals could not be heard in the Assembly because of selfishness of few leaders of Communist parties.
In separate statements, CPI(M) and CPI dismissed DMK chief’s charges saying that no decision is taken in the Communist parties by any individuals. “By stating that few selfish people had taken a decision in the Communist party, which follows high level of inner party democracy, it does not reflect his concern that no members of Communist parties had entered the Assembly but a smear campaign against the party,” CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan said, adding that mortgaging party ideals for few seats would only amount to selfishness. “Contesting election on the basis of ideology and highlighting alternate policies without worrying over the victory or loss in the polls is only for public welfare,” he said.
CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan said that though Communist members were not in the Assembly, they would fight for the people issue in public forum. He said that Mr Karunanidhi knows very well that there were no place for selfish people in the communist movement.
