CM Jagan directs officials to register every crop raised by farmers under e-crop

Jagan stressed that senior officials should review the implementation of e-crop every 15 days

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to register every crop raised by the farmers in the app called ‘e-crop’ to help them get financial relief in case of any adverse impact on crop due to natural calamities.

The CM held a high-level review meeting on e-crop and purchase of paddy with ministers Kakani Govardhan Reddy and Karumuri Nageswara Rao and top officials at his camp office here on Monday.

He laid stress on implementing e-cropping for the crops raised by the farmers and felt the need to develop SOPs to strengthen it and also called for completion of the exercise by the end of August.

The CM noted that the kharif season has started. The crops being raised by the farmers should be registered in e-crop so that, based on such data, the farmers would be given relief in case their crops suffer damage or loss. Officials must issue both physical and digital receipts to the farmers after covering the crops under e-crop so that the farmers could have the right to get relief.

He asked officials to keep the master register with details of lands under cultivation and the details of farmers who were taking it up in the villages and to geo-tag them and upload photographs in e-crop. Officials, after completion of e-crop by the end of August, must conduct a social audit in the first week of September and keep details of it on display in village/ward secretariats.

Jagan stressed that senior officials should review the implementation of e-crop every 15 days while officials at mandal and district levels should also keep a watch on its implementation.

As for purchase of paddy, the CM asked officials to eliminate the role of millers and said paddy purchase should be done only through RBKs. The civil supplies authorities must hold responsibility for paddy purchase and payment to the farmers.

Jagan laid stress on ensuring minimum support price for farmers without cutting even a single rupee.
