HD Kumaraswamy on week-long US vastavya from today
Bengaluru: After a hectic poll campaign and gruelling Grama Vastavya programme, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will be flying to the US on a week-long visit from Friday.
According to Mr Dinesh, press secretary to the CM, this is purely a private visit with no government expenditure involved.
After chairing the state Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Mr Kumaraswamy and one of his minister will be heading to the US.
The Chief Minister will be participating in the foundation stone laying function of Sri Kala Bhairaveshwara temple at New Jersey on June 30. The temple is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore.
The seer of Adi Chunchanagiri Matha, Sri Nirmalananda Swami had requested Mr Kumaraswamy to participate in the function but he could not till now because of the Lok Sabha polls and the Grama Vastavya programme.
Mr Dinesh said the Chief Minister will also take part in a three-day convention of Vokkaliga Parishat of America being held in a city near New Jersey on July 4. The Adichunchanagiri Matha seer and other prominent personalities of the Vokkaliga community are participating in the event.
After the function, Mr Kumaraswamy will return to Bengaluru on July 5 or 6.
Mr Kumaraswamy had been to Singapore with his wife and MLA, Anitha Kumaswamy and son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, soon after the Lok Sabha elections.
However, after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results, he did not leave Bengaluru maybe because of the efforts by the Bharatiya Janata Party to topple the coalition government. With the threat fizzling out, Mr Kumaraswamy had decided to take a week-long break.
