Chikkamagaluru: Asserting that the JD(S)-Congress coalition government would last its full term, Revenue Minister, R V Deshpande on Wednesday said the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) once finalised by the coordination committee would be its bedrock.
Mr Deshpande, who was in Chikkamagaluru for a review meeting, told reporters he was confident that the all confusion on the functioning of the coalition government would be cleared once the CMP was okayed. “The coalition government is stable and strong,” he insisted, denying accusations that the new government had not got off to a good start yet.
“Once the CMP is finalized by the coordination committee, it will become the guideline for the state government and it will be its Bhagvadgita, Quran and Bible,” he added, noting that he was a member of the committee set up to draw the CMP.
Asked about the different statements issued by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on budget presentation, Mr Deshpande said Mr Kumaraswamy had made it clear that he would present a new budget on July 5.
The committee will meet again in Bengaluru on June 29 at 4.30 pm to draw up the CMP for submission to the Coordination Committee, according to party sources.
