D K Shivakumar-H D Deve Gowda bonhomie
Bengaluru: Political rivalry and the bitterness of the past were forgotten as Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar touched the feet of former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, at the Kempe Gowda Jayanthi celebration at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday. The twists and turns of Vokkaliga politics and the struggle to gain supremacy and votes had left the Deve Gowda family and Mr Shivakumar at opposite ends of the political spectrum.
All that seemed to be a thing of the past as Mr Shivakumar, after reaching the dais, went straight to the seer of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Nirmalanandanatha Swami and touched his feet. After that, he went to Mr Gowda who was seated alongside and touched his feet too.
This is not the first time in the recent past that Mr Shivakumar has tried to break the ice with Mr Gowda.
Recently, on a popular television show called ‘Weekend With Ramesh,’ when Mr Gowda was being interviewed, Mr Shivakumar came online and said the former PM was like his father and he had learnt a lot in politics from him.
