Cabinet to take decision on VS Achuthanandan: Prakash Karat
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prakash Karat on Monday said the central leadership of the party had already decided that whatever was required on the issue of giving suitable post to veteran leader V.S. Achuthanandan should be done and the matter would be decided by Cabinet.
When asked why Mr Achuthanandan, who addressed led the poll campaign from the front, addressed the maximum number of public meetings and was the biggest crowd puller of the party, was not considered for the post of chief minister, Mr Karat said; "Leading the campaign and running the administration and government are two different things."
He said at the press conference held here the party general secretary had said that the veteran leader would play the role of a guide and adviser considering his age and health. On whether Mr Achuthanandan would accept any decorative position, he said any decision on the matter would be taken in consultation with the veteran leader.
