KCR, Congress ignored governors at major events: Veerraju

Visakhapatnam: BJP state president Somu Veerraju said on Sunday that like the Congress, BRS and TMC have no right to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not inviting President Droupadi Murmu for inauguration of the new Parliament house.

Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, Veerraju said BJP respected the office of President and treated the President with utmost dignity. Yet, the PM had every right to do the inauguration. “Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao did not invite the governor for inauguration of the new secretariat and assembly. Mamata Banerjee did not invite the governor for such an event. The Congress-ruled state invited Sonia Gandhi for such events,’’ Veerraju said.

The BJP leader also noted that the PM paid tributes to NT Rama Rao called him the pride of Telugu-speaking people in his Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday. He said the central government was in no way connected to the arrest of Avinash Reddy, accused in the Vivekananda Reddy murder. “The CBI was handling the case. Law will take its own course,” he added.

Regarding the BJP’s alliances with political parties for the next general elections, Veerraju said that at present, the party has an alliance with the Jana Sena. The chances of an alliance with other parties would be discussed by central leaders of the BJP, he added.
