Jammu and Kashmir: Congress, NC MLAs walk out of assembly over flood rehabilitation
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly testified an uproar yet again on Saturday as the Congress and National Conference MLAs staged a walk out protesting inadequate rehabilitation of 2014 flood victims.
The opposition MLAs alleged that the ruling PDP-BJP state government has failed to provide relief to the families affected by floods. On Friday, ruckus was seen in the assembly over Handwara unrest where five civilians were killed by security forces.
Independent legislator Engineer Rashid had on Thursday staged a protest inside the Assembly over the delay in the magisterial probe of Handwara killings, and sought an explanation from the state government on why it was retracting on its promise of completing the enquiry within a month.
More than 200 people were killed and almost a million were dispatched for weeks in the September 2014 floods in the valley.
