Backing Congress, BJP is not good for Telangana: KT Rama Rao

Mr Rama Rao said people had lost faith in the two national parties that had ruled the country for so many years.

Sircilla: If the Congress wins the forthcoming general election, it would be beneficial for Mr Rahul Gandhi, if the BJP wins, Mr Modi will be benefited, but if the TRS wins, it would be highly beneficial for the people of Telangana state, TRS party working president K.T. Rama Rao told a public meeting in Mustabad in Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday.

Mr Rama Rao said people had lost faith in the two national parties that had ruled the country for so many years.

Voters had ensured good results for the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in the Assembly elections in December last year, he said, and urged that the same spirit should result in TRS candidates being elected in all 16 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the coming parliamentary elections. About 15 political parties across the nation are ready to join with the TRS to form a front at the Centre, he said.

Mayawati of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Naveen Patnaik in Orissa and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh are ready to join hands with the TRS. If this combination gets more than 166 Lok Sabha seats, the TRS will become the king maker in Delhi, Mr Rama Rao added.

He enunciated his party’s grouse against the BJP-led Central government. Several appeals have been made to give the Rs 80,000 crore Kaleswaram project national status, but the BJP government has not responded to date. Prime Minister Modi's government is also not sanctioning funds to the TS government, Mr Rama Rao said, adding that funds are being sanctioned only for states ruled by NDA partners.

“Niti Ayog suggested that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government sanction about Rs 25,000 crore for Telangana, but it has not sanctioned them to date,” Mr Rama Rao said.

Mr Rama Rao appealed to the people to elect the TRS's nominee from Karimnagar, B. Vinod Kumar, with a big majority and send him to Parliament to exert pressure on the central government to bring the railway line to Karimnagar and to accord national status to the Kaleshwaram project.
