Chennai: VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Sunday said that the accusation about the People’s Welfare Alliance acting as the B-Team of AIADMK is not only aimed at MDMK general secretary Vaiko but also to tarnish image of the alliance.
“We have clearly stated that our aim was to dislodge AIADMK from power. In fact, it was PWA, which is more vehement in its criticism of the ruling party than DMK. In spite of this, the accusation of PWA being a B-Team of AIADMK is being made by those who could not digest our growing support among public,” he told reporters here.
Mr Thirumavalavan said that it was know a fact that AIADMK and DMDK are like “snake and mongoose” and the charges are made against us even after Vijayakanth joining the alliance. He said that the allegation of Rs1500 crore being paid out was made not only against Vaiko but to tarnish the image of PWA.
Urging cadres of all the alliance parties to work without bothering about the criticism, VCK leader said that the alliance between PWA and DMDK was made on the basis three important principles – to eradicate corruption, implementation of prohibition and formation of coalition government.
“The alliance will be expanded with a few other parties joining,” he said, adding that TMC chief G. K. Vasan has assured us to consider their invitation when he along with Mr Vaiko met him a wedding reception in the city on Saturday evening.
When asked whether DMDK and PWA contesting with two different manifestos would create confusion, he said that it would not be a problem. “In the event of our alliance coming to power, we will discuss and come out with a common minimum programme for the government,” he noted.
