PM Modi to address joint meet of alliance leaders

Massive meeting in Chennai on March 6.

Chennai: The AIADMK-BJP combine is gearing up for a massive meeting in Chennai on March 6 to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be the first rally in which the leaders of the BJP allies would share the dais.

This joint rally will be Mr Modi's second meeting in the state within a week. On March one he would visit Kanyakumari from where the Union minister of state for finance and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan had won in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Modi would lay the foundation stone for the restoration of the rail connectivity between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi for 17.20 km at a cost of Rs 208 crore besides another project reconstruction of bridge no. 346 Pamban Viaduct for Rs 250 crore. He would also flag off the Madurai-Chennai Egmore Tejas express on the occasion.

"On March 6, we have planned a massive rally in Chennai and it will be addressed by our Prime Minister. Leaders from the AIADMK and PMK would also address," BJP state president Dr.

Tamilisai Soundararajan said. This will be the first joint rally of the NDA leaders after their alliance was announced on February 19.

Also, despite an appeal by Mr Radhakrishnan not to stage black flag demonstrations, the MDMK has threatened to stage black flag agitation when Mr Modi visits Kanyakumari and Chennai.

Its general secretary Vaiko said on Wednesday that demonstration was against the PM's failure to visit areas affected by Gaja cyclone in Nov. last year and for the Centre forcing some projects on Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters at the airport here, Mr Vaiko said about Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan's remarks that agitations were a waste, that she had all the free-dom to express her views.

To a question, he said discussions on seat-sharing with the DMK were satisfactory. The MDMK chief denied rumours that he would contest from Tiruchy and said a decision in this regard would be taken by the party's governing body.
