Petitioners want Hyderabad HC to make CM pay for vows
Hyderabad: Online petition website Change.org has seen 40 petitions being filed by Monday objecting to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao offering gold ornaments to various temples by utilising public funds to fulfil his personal vows.
As many as 100 people extended support to the online campaign urging the Chief Justice of the High Court to recover the money from the CM arguing that Mr Rao has set a dangerous trend, alien to India’s Constitution and democratic spirit. The online petition was launched by Dr Lubna Sarwath.
The petition urged the Chief Justice to declare the GO 23 and 22 issued by TS government sanctioning funds for offerings to God as illegal and unconstitutional.
The petition noted that the CM was free to make any offerings to Gods from his private funds but not from public funds and sought Chief Justice to order recovery of all the funds spent on such offerings, including logistic expenses, from the CM.
It also sought recovery of all expenses incurred by government towards family, constitutional representatives such as MLAs ministers be recovered from them individually.
