CHIKKAMAGALURU: Giving enough hints that the expansion of the B.S. Yediyurappa government could happen in a couple of days, Karnataka deputy chief minister Govind Karjol on Tuesday said he was ready to resign from his post the moment party seniors asked him to do so.
Speaking to reporters in Chikkamagaluru, Karjol said the issue of who should be inducted into the cabinet would be decided by the prime minister, the BJP national president, the chief minister and senior leaders of the BJP. “Whatever is the decision of senior leaders, I will abide by it,” he said.
Asked whether there were too many aspirants for ministerial berths in the party, he replied, “It is common for MLAs to wish to become ministers. These factors will be considered by party seniors while deciding who should be inducted into the ministry.”
Karjol expressed annoyance over some party MLAs mounting pressure on the leadership to make them ministers while raising caste-based claims. He said loyal party workers who have strived hard for the BJP’s success and the issue of regional representation should be looked into while deciding on who to induct into the ministry.
