Be united to achieve goals set by Jaya: VK Sasikala
Chennai: AIADMK general secretary V. K. Sasikala on Friday exhorted party legislators to “stay united” to achieve goals set by late chief minister J. Jayalalithaa and asked them to be in “close touch” with people.
Addressing MLAs at the party office here, Mrs Sasikala asked them to interact with people regularly and ensure that their needs are fulfilled. “You should never lose touch with people. You should always be in touch with them. MLAs can approach ministers for any kind of help to get things done for people and they can also approach me,” the party chief told the legislators.
During her 30-minute interaction with MLAs at a time the Assembly session is underway, Mrs Sasikala stressed on the unity among partymen to achieve the goals and keep up the momentum on the tremendous success achieved by the AIADMK in the last elections due to “hard work and whirlwind tour of the state undertaken by late Amma”.
Sources said Mrs Sasikala response was a broad smile when MLAs asked her to take over as the Chief Minister replacing incumbent O. Panneerselvam. “She did not react to our demands,” a source said.
Incidentally, Mr Panneerselvam was also present at the meeting on Friday. Later, Mrs Sasikala also conferred with AIADMK MPs and discussed the current political situation in the country. She also discussed the party's strategy to be adopted during the upcoming Budget session of Parliament.
