LoP To Demand While Paper On Karnagtaka's Financial Position In Ensuing Session
Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka on Monday stated to demand the State Government to come out with a ‘White Paper’ on the financial status of the State.
Ashok said at a press conference in Bengaluru city that he would mount pressure on the State Government in the ensuing Belagavi Assembly session to come out ‘White Paper’ and accused the Congress led State Government of being ‘bankrupt.’
The Leader of Opposition stated that the 5-guarantees of the Congress ruled State Government has been implemented ‘partially’ leading to State treasury going empty and accused the State Government of not having money to release relief for the farmers of the State reeling under drought situation.
The 5-guarantees of the State Government include free travel for women in State owned buses, upto 200 units of free power, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family and distribution of 10 kgs of rice for BPL/ Antyodaya card holders.
He said during his visit to drought affected areas of the State the harsh realities have been coming out and the State Government has not bothered to address the distress situation in an effective way.
Ashoka said it was not right on part of the State Government to point fingers at the Central Government over drought relief and wanted the State Government to come out with its stand on addressing the drought situation first.
He claimed that his Government when in power in Karnataka came to the rescue of the people in distress and also released double the funds to tackle drought as per the guidelines framed under NDRF. The LoP said when BJP was in power funds were released to address the drought situation and later on funds came in for the State and asked the State Government “Why can’t the State Government act in a similar way?”
He termed the Janata Darshan programme of the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a “bogus” and observed that “Had the Chief Minister made an honest effort to review the performance of each Minister then there was no need for him to conduct Janata Darshan?” Ashoka said “It appears that the State Government has woken up from a deep sleep.”
