MK Stalin supports Telangana CM on reservation

The DMK would support procession planned by Telangana CM at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin has stoutly supported Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao’s “monumental efforts to uphold social justice” by raising the reservation benefits for SCs, STs and minorities and for giving a “clarion call” to secure the power of determining reservation solely to the states without interference from the Centre.

The DMK would support procession planned by Telangana CM at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to press “for upholding social justice and state rights, the soul of DMK”, Stalin said in a statement here on Sunday.

Recalling the “untiring efforts” by the Dravidian movement, the DMK in particular, Stalin said, “DMK steadfastly adheres to the stand that, states must be given the right to determine the nature of the reservation policies and Central Government doesn’t have a locus standi to impose restrictions”, while demanding that the 27 per cent reservation should be raised to 50 per cent as per Mandal recommendations.
