Andhra Pradesh: Bihar gang threat allayed
Anantapur: Even as internal rivalries are under control in the party, bickerings among some of the TD leaders has been prompting an element of factionalism in the district. Speculations have been rife over social media about supari being given to some Bihar gang to eliminate a Telugu Desam MLA. This reportedly ignited strong differences in the party while creating an embarrassing situation for police confronted with the widespread rumours. In fact, differences had cropped up among several TD leaders with the stiff competition for nomination to contest the MLA seats in the upcoming general elections.
Police authorities, though having no clarity about the speculation of a killer gang from Bihar being hired by a young Telugu Desam leader to eliminate his counterpart, are forced to check out the bandobast and maintain vigil every minute. Existing differences between Paritala Sriram and Dharmavaram MLA G. Suryanarayana groups in Dharmavaram seem to add fuel to the fire of spreading rumours.
It may be noted that the supporters of the MLA had been resisting political activities of Paritala Sriram in the segment. They did not allow Paritala men to even put up banners on the occasion of the young leader's birthday five months back.
Further, MLA G. Suryanarayana was reportedly resisting the role of minister Paritala Sunitha in his segment and was not showing interest in her active participation. Paritala supporters too did not appear to be entertaining the Dharmavaram MLA in their areas.
The fear of Bihar-based gangs have been creating a lot of anxiety among party leaders. The district police reportedly informed the chief minister office about the baseless rumours spread by a group for their political mileage. A senior police official concluded that no group had come forward to claim credence for the speculations. "We are taking all necessary strong security measures during bandobast of leaders", he observed.
