JDS to release its first list of candidates on November 1

Bengaluru: Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would kickstart his election campaign on November 1 by launching his first phase of “Pancharatna Rathayatra” from Mulbagal in Kolar district on November 1 and on the occasion he would release his party’s first list of candidates who would be fighting the forthcoming Assembly election in 2023.

November 1 in Karnataka is celebrated as Kannada Rajoytsava day.

He told reporters on Wednesday that the names in the first list would be little lessthan120 out of 224 Assembly seats in the State and his yatra is to appeal to voters to give power to JDS to form Government in the State independently. Rather than criticizing his political opponents, Kumaraswamy said his yatra will tell people about its policies and programmes.

Gearing up for the elections, he said, JDS will be holding a two-day national executive committee meeting in Bengaluru on October 27 and 28 and the meet will elect its new national president and new-office bearers at the national level. Currently, former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda is the national president.

At the executive committee meeting, Kumaraswamy said the meet would be attended by representatives of 13 States and more than 265 delegates will be attending the meet.

The two-day meet, he said, would pass certain important resolutions on the prevailing economic situation of the country, communal harmony among others.
