BJP to support high court for Kurnool, says party chief

Ananthapur: State BJP president Somu Veeraraju has announced that the party would support setting up of the high court in Kurnool if the state government came up with all necessary documentation and clearances.

The Centre is ready to provide necessary clearances, he said while doing a review on voters enrolment for the graduate MLC constituency in Anantapur on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, he criticised the state government for diverting funds meant for the gram panchayats. As a result, development was badly hit in all rural areas, he observed and said chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had no right to speak on decentralisation of power.

Referring to the recent floods in Anantapur, the BJP president alleged the government failed to release minimum funds to the victims though many colonies remained submerged for many days.

The state government had not spent even `100cr towards development of Vizag city, he alleged.

Meanwhile, activists of the Vikendreekarana Sadhana Samithi of Anantapur had a heated argument with the BJP president and demanded that he support the high court plan for Kurnool by adhering to the Sribagh Pact. The activists urged him to ask the Centre to rectify the failures vis-a-vis Polavaram and get the special package for the state. The activists demanded that the BJP support the CM’s decentralization plan.
