Defection spree in TRS a boost to Congress
HYDERABAD: As a major shock to the TRS, an MPs, an MLC, a ZP chairperson and a former MLA will be joining the Congress on Saturday. TRS Rajya Sabha member D. Srinivas, MLC Ramulu Naik, Karimnagar ZP chairperson Tula Uma and former MLA T. Narasa Reddy will be switching over in the presence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
All these leaders left for Delhi on Friday. Mr Narasa Reddy who belonged to TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s home constituency Gajwel, was suspended by the TRS on Friday when it came to know about his political moves. Following his suspension, Mr Narasa Reddy resigned as the chairman of the TS Road Development Corporation.
Former PCC president and TRS MP D. Srinivas has finally decided to rejoin the Congress. It may be recalled that TRS Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha, the daughter of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, had recently demanded the suspension of Mr Srinivas for alleged anti-party activities. Later Mr Srinivas also requested the TRS leadership to suspend him from the party. While he waited for his suspension, the TRS leadership waited for Mr Srinivas to leave on his own.
Mr Ramulu Naik who was suspended from the party has also decided to join the Congress and left for Delhi. Karimnagar Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma was disappointed as she did not get the TRS ticket to contest from the Vemulawada constituency. The party leadership decided to go with sitting MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh.
Telangana TD former MLA R. Krishnaiah, a BC leader, is also likely to join the Congress. According to sources, Mr. Krishnaiah is asking for a Congress ticket for his son from the Kukatpally Assembly constituency. The Congress has decided to allot this seat to the Telugu Desam as part of seat adjustments.
