Chennai: The BJP is likely to announce its candidates for the election to the Assembly constituencies of Aravakurichi, Thanjavur and by-poll in Thirupparankundram constituency in a day or two.
The party, which had earlier announced to contest from these three constituencies, has finalised the list of probable candidates and sent it to the party high command for approval. “It will be approved soon and a formal announcement will be made thereafter,” a BJP senior said.
The names of party senior M.S. Ramalingam for Thanjavur constituency and Srinivasan for Thirupparankundram is doing the rounds. The filing of nominations began on Wednesday.
The saffron party would contest the November 19 election in a changed and charged up political environment, especially its soft approach to the ruling AIADMK following the hospitalisation of AIADMK supremo and CM J. Jayalalithaa and the Cauvery issue which had made the BJP draw flak from the Opposition parties.
