Vijayawada: Ruling YSRC legislators on Tuesday said Chandrababu Naidu was the main culprit in the AP FibreNet scam, about which Jagan Mohan Reddy as opposition leader had spoken in the assembly way back in 2016.
They also asked Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari to explain how the family acquired so much wealth as Naidu had “only two acres of land” when he married her.
During a short discussion in the state assembly on Tuesday, the ruling side claimed that Naidu and his associates robbed Rs.114 crore of public money in the FiberNet scam.
Starting the short discussion on corruption, MLA Abbaya Chowdary said The “Chandrababu skill scam” has become the mother of all scams. “Nara Lokesh studied abroad and specialised in scams. Lokesh learned how to fake MOUs,” he said.
Everyone knows how the skills scam was done with proper planning. Skill Scam script was written and its screenplay and direction were done by Chandrababu. The FiberNet deal was also fixed with the evil intentions, he alleged.
Industries minister Gudivada Amarnath recalled that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had warned about the Fibrenet Scam in 2016, when he was the opposition leader. While playing a video clip from 2016, he showed how Jagan spoke about the Fibrenet Scam in the assembly then.
Amarnath said, “This is not a new scam. There is no vendetta. We had already raised it several times in the past.”
In the five minutes long video of 2016, Jagan Mohan Reddy was seen fiercely exposing the Fibrenet deal and questioning the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, asking him to answer the people of the state about his involvement in the scam.
Amarnath said Nara Bhuvaneswari must explain how Naidu amassed such enormous wealth. “When Chandrababu Naidu married Bhuvaneswari, he had only a two-acre property. Now, his wife claims that if she sells only 2 per cent shares of her company, she will get '400 crore. If so, the net worth of her company should be '20,000 crore. My question to Mrs Naidu is, what would be the total worth of all the other Heritage companies and businesses owned by you and your family?”
“The people of the state want to know, where and how were you able to amass such massive wealth in a short period of time?”
“Is it all the money that Naidu has looted from the people over the years? Today, Naidu has been put behind the bars as he has been held accountable for looting public funds and deceiving people over and over again,” he said.
Amarnath said the TD government sanctioned funds before receiving CITD evaluation report on software in the AP skills development scam and the 90:10 agreement was a farce, a tool of Naidu's modus operandi to loot public money.
He said the skills development scam and the Fibrenet Scam were critical case studies that give an insight to how public money has been looted by the Telugu Desam.
