BS Yeddyurappa lying low, waiting to strike at opportune time?

On Wednesday he called a meeting of the party's senior leaders to discuss its future strategy.

Bengaluru: Following his unsuccessful attempt to bring down the H.D. Kumaraswamy government, BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, has reportedly decided to lie low and take stock of the situation for the time being.

On Wednesday he called a meeting of the party's senior leaders to discuss its future strategy. The RSS later summoned party leaders to Keshava Krupa to discuss the ongoing political developments in the state, according to party sources.

"Our party president called a meeting today where we discussed the political developments in the state," said a leader, who attended the meeting. Mr. Yeddyurappa, who did his best to make use of the internal fighting in the Congress and form a BJP government in the state, failed to garner the required numbers as the MLAs who had earlier agreed to join his party, did a U- turn. The BJP leader now reportedly believes that the Congress MLAs had merely used their threat to join his party as a blackmailing tactic to gain ministerial berths in the coalition government.

BJP state general secretary and core committee member, N. Ravikumar, when contacted, however, said the BJP had not given up its attempts to form the government in the state. "We will wait and watch the developments. If the situation warrants it, the BJP will definitely step in . As an opposition party, we have the responsibility to provide a better administration," he contended.

Claiming that the BJP had not indulged in "Operation Lotus" to poach Congress and JDS MLAs, he maintained that a hue and cry was raised for nothing. But he also argued that the party's attempts to replace the Kumaraswamy government had not damaged its image.
