HYDERABAD: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday indirectly blamed the BJP for an incident in communally sensitive Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh, where a teacher was seen asking her students to slap a Muslim boy, calling it “a product of last nine years”.
Taking to social media, Owaisi posted: “The message being drilled into the minds of little children is that one can beat up and humiliate a Muslim without any repercussions.”
Referring to the fear factor that haunts those who want to pursue justice, he said, “The very fact that the father of the child has withdrawn his kid from school and given in writing that he doesn’t want to pursue the matter is because he knows he won’t get justice and instead, it might vitiate the ‘atmosphere’.”
“Who are these people who will ‘vitiate’ the atmosphere over a father seeking justice for his kid? It is an indictment of UP CM Yogiadityanath’s rule that people have no faith in due process. It is more likely that the teacher will get some govt award rather than being punished?” he posted, indicating impunity and impetus being given to such behaviour under the ruling government.
Tagging the Muzaffarnagar police, Owaisi asked why action was not taken under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. He also found fault with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the National Commission for Human Rights (NHRC) for not taking suo motu action.
In an indirect reference to alleged instant justice being meted out in the state, he asked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister: “What happened to bulldozers and ‘thok do’?”
