BJP weakening regional parties in states: Dipankar Bhattacharya

VIJAYAWADA: CPI (ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya has accused BJP controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to lure MLAs of regional parties in power in various states, so that it could come to power in those states.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he advised all regional parties to be wary and stand united to defeat the machinations of BJP, like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has done in Bihar by uniting with RJD. “If regional parties can come together, they can defeat BJP in other states too,” he observed.

Dipankar said the Prime Minister is extending support to top corporates like Adani and Ambani in getting loans from banks of the country and doing business abroad. But small loans are being denied to common people, forcing them into financial troubles. He maintained that business policies of BJP government are helping only corporations and business sector while ignoring commoners. He expressed fears that India will soon be hit by inflation like Sri Lanka if saffron policies continue to be implemented in the future.

The CPI (ML) leader said the Modi government is privatising public institutions, including the Indian Railways. Even the Indian military sector is going the same way.

He further claimed that BJP is conspiring to treat the country's Christian and Muslim minorities as second-class citizens by undermining secularism and the Indian Constitution.

Dipankar felt the Modi government is trying to create a one-party system in the country and stay in power forever. He appealed to democrats, secular forces and youth of the country to counter this attempt.
