Vijayawada: 103 MLAs won with 50 per cent votes in 2019

Notably there are 20 MLAs with a clean background who have won against a runner up with declared criminal cases.

Vijayawada: Around 103 (59 per cent) MLAs won with 50 per cent and above of the total votes polled in their constituency in the April 11 polls that were held for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Delhi-based Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Andhra Pradesh Election Watch (APEW) have analysed the vote share for the 175 constituencies in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections, 2019. As per the analysis, YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with 73.5 per cent got the highest vote share among all the other MLAs of the state. Mr Reddy was followed by Anna Rambabu with 67.9 per cent and Amzath Bhasha Seik Bepari with 62.9 per cent.

Among the 175 MLAs,14 are women. All of them won with more than 40 per cent vote share in their constituencies. Among the women MLAs, Kangati Sridevi (YSRC) from Pattikonda constituency won with the highest vote share, of 59.8 per cent in her constituency and 24.9 per cent of margin of victory.

Sixty one out of 96 MLAs with declared criminal cases won against a runner up with a clean background. Among these 61 MLAs, 8 MLAs have won with more than 20 per cent margin of victory. Among these, Amzath Basha Shaik Bepari of YSRC from Kadapa constituency won with 32.87 per cent margin of victory.
Sixty (62 per cent) out of 96 MLAs analysed and who had declared criminal cases won with a vote share of 50 per cent and above.

Notably there are 20 MLAs with a clean background who have won against a runner up with declared criminal cases. Out of these 20 MLAs, 3 have won with more than 20 per cent margin of victory.

Seventy one (41 per cent) MLAs won with less than 50 per cent of the total votes polled in their constituency. Out of 151 MLAs of YSRC, 53 (36 per cent) won with less than 50 per cent of total votes polled in their constituencies. 17 (74 per cent) out of 23 MLAs from TD and 1 (100 per cent) MLA from Jan Sena have won with less than 50 per cent of the total votes polled in their constituency.

Ninety eight (60 per cent) out of 163 crorepati MLAs analysed have won with a vote share of 50 per cent and above. 7 MLAs have won with a margin of victory of less than 2,000 votes. 3 MLAs have won with more than 50 per cent of margin of victory. 11 out of 163 crorepati MLAs have won against a non-crorepati runner up. Among these 11 MLAs, only one has won with more than 20 per cent margin of victory. Among these, Thoguru Arthur from Nandikotkur constituency won with 23.5 per cent margin of victory. There are 7 non-crorepati MLAs.
