Hyderabad: Sand mafia behind kids’ death–MBT

Hyderabad: MBT spokesperson Amjadullah Khan Khalid submitted a plea to the Minorities Commission on Monday along with victims and their families on the issue of the death of three minor children who fell into a pit dug by the sand mafia in Nizamabad and the harassment of families by personnel of Begumpet police station.

Mr Khan registered a protest as commission chairman Mohammed Qamaruddin was not present in the office. He said that the chairman had been intimated in advance but left the office before they arrived.

Mr Khan said a sand mafia is active in Nizamabad district and due to their carelessness, three school children lost their lives in Nagaram 80 Quarters. Police and the district administration neither took any action against the responsible persons nor paid any compensation.

He said Azharuddin, 7, Shaikh Arbaz, and Shaik Shoeb, both 9, of Nagaram 80 Quarters, Nizamabad, went missing from the government primary school on July 5. The next day, their bodies were found in a big pit dug for excavation of red sand. He demanded that the commission pass necessary orders for the payment of Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each family, provide their families 2BHK flats and order an inquiry.

Mr Khan complained that a family was being targeted by SHO T.S. Uma Maheshwar Rao and sub-inspector B. Sudershan. He alleged that Khaja Moinuddin and Khaja Ayubuddin were intercepted on December 24, 2017, at 1 am at Katta Maisamma temple, Begumpet, when they were returning from a hospital. Despite showing all documents, Mr Khan alleged, Mr Sudershan manhandled them. This was recorded on phone and a complaint lodged with the ACP and then DCP.

The then inspector after an investigation asked the SI to tender an apology, but Mr Sudershan retained a grudge against them.

On May 23, when two relatives of Khaja Moinuddin were retur-ning from Tarawih namaz during Ramzan at around 3.20 am, the SI seized their two-wheeler.
Alleging that they used criminal force to deter a public servant, They were beaten by police personnel.
