Confusion over Sangolli Brigade will be cleared soon: KS Eshwarappa
Hubballi: Despite the misgivings of state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa about the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade he is spearheading, senior leader of the party, K.S. Eshwarappa on Friday claimed there was merely “confusion” over the outfit and its only aim was to return the Lingayat strongman as Chief Minister.
Addressing the first preparatory meeting for the mega convention of backward communities and Dalits planned by SRB in Haveri on August 31, he said the confusion would be cleared by discussing the matter with the top brass of the party.
“The main aim of this outfit is to bring the party back to power and make Yeddyurappa CM. We fight among ourselves in BJP whenever some confusion arises. But we will find an amicable solution to such differences through discussions. The brigade is essential for the uplift of Dalits and BCs and to bring BJP to power with their collective effort,” he asserted.
Speaking to brigade leaders in Haveri, he said leaders of Backward Classes and Dalits from all Assembly segments were expected to participate in the convention at Kudala Sangama.
He claimed SRB was bound to succeed with many leaders of the erstwhile Karnataka Janata Party launched by Mr Yeddyurappa in Haveri in 2012, returning to the BJP.
Hitting out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he said the Congress government had failed to utilise half of the funds meant for the welfare of Dalits and backward communities and also curb untouchability still practiced in several parts of North Karnataka.
Mr Eshwarappa promised to put pressure on the Centre to name the Hubballi airport after Sangolli Rayanna if the state government proposed this to the Union government.
