O Panneerselvam lashes out at DMK
Chennai: Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam lashed out at the DMK saying the party, which had left a huge debt of over Rs1 lakh crore has no locus standi to criticise the AIADMK on the fiscal performance.
Responding to a charge by the DMK legislator C.V.M.P. Ezhilarasan during a debate in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state's economy has not been progressing on a healthy note, Mr Panneerselvam said the previous DMK had left a huge debt of over Rs1.01 lakh crore when it demitted office. “After the AIADMK emerged victorious (in 2011) the government had put the economy on track, thanks to the able guidance and leadership of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa,” he said.
Inflation has been kept under control and in five years, the government was able to improve the state's economy. “You are talking as if the DMK has done a good job,” he said pointing to the DMK members.
