Hyderabad: Madhya Pradesh’s former chief minister Singh Chauhan alleged that the people of Telangana state were fed up with the family rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking to the media here during a visit on Wednesday, Mr Chauhan, head of the BJP national membership drive, said it was due to this that the people had favoured the BJP in the LS elections.
The BJP secured 20 per cent votes in the Lok Sabha elections in the state due to this, he said.
He said that the BJP has been picking up support in the Lok Sabha elections and their target was to come to power in Telangana, Andhra Prad-esh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Mr Chauhan explained that the BJP was concentrating especially on Telangana state and that he’s expecting the party to come to power in the state in 2023.
Mr Chauhan said that in his 15 years as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, he had never seen someone like Mr Rao who doesn’t go to the Secretariat. He said that had Mr Rao attended the Niti Aayog meeting, he would perhaps have had an opportunity to bring the concerns of the state to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He alleged that Mr Rao’s government has not impl-emented a single Central scheme in the state.
Mr Chauhan said that the BJP membership drive would start on July 6 and that Mr Modi would inaugurate it. All sections of society will be involved in the membership drive, he said.
The membership drive in Telangana state will be taken up at the polling booth level, Mr Chauhan said.
BJP cadres and leaders will brief people at the ground level about Central schemes while at the same time expose the failures of Mr Rao's rule.
