TPCC objects to Arun Jaitley's comment on Indira Gandhi
HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leaders strongly objected to the comments made by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley on former prime minister late Indira Gandhi over Emergency.
Criticising the Emergency imposed by the Con-gress government in 1975, Mr Jaitley had compared Indira Gandhi with German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Telangana senior Cong-ress leader V. Hanuman-tha Rao, who is also a former Member of Parlia-ment, said: “After the Em-ergency, Indira Gandhi had won the elections. The BJP leaders should remember this.”
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Mr Hanumantha Rao hit back at the BJP leaders saying: “Why don’t they talk about communal riots in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was Chief Minister.”
Meanwhile, Telangana CLP deputy leader and MLC Ponguleti Sudha-kar Reddy alleged that BJP is using the issue of Emergency for political gains.
“The attack on Indira Gandhi is part of political conspiracy. Indira Gandhi had done so many good things for the country and no one can deny her lasting impression in the country,” he said.
