PMK announces protest on June 28 against Tamilisai Soundararajan
Chennai: PMK on Tuesday announced a state-wide protest on June 28 to press its demand for an apology by BJP Tamil Nadu unit President Tamilisai Soundararajan for alleged 'derogatory' remarks against its leader and former union minister Anbumani Ramadoss.
The protests will be staged in all district headquarters across the state, PMK President G K Mani said in a statement. The party has been demanding an apology from Soundararajan for reportedly making 'derogatory' remarks against Ramadoss in a television interview.
Workers of the BJP and PMK yesterday clashed in the city after the latter took out a march to the saffron party's office intending to lay siege to it in protest against Soundararajan. However, Soundararajan had yesterday said she never disrespected anyone.
"...If I put forth my views, I would expect the same from the other side. Instead there has been ill-mannered retorts," she said, adding that she "never said anything insulting" and would not apologise, she had told reporters. — PTI
