PM inaugurating new Parliament building violates Articles 79, 80: Uttam

HYDERABAD: Former PCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Prime Minister unveiling the new Parliament building would violate Articles 79 and 80 of the Constitution.

“Parliament of India constitutes the President, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. When the foundation for the building was laid, the Dalit President (Ram Nath Kovind) was not called and now a tribal President (Droupadi Murmu) is not being called to unveil it,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said after a meeting of the political affairs committee of the party.

“The PM has not answered any question in Parliament and discussions don’t happen. Parliament has met for the least number of days so far in history. The temple of democracy is being disrespected by the BJP,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy, former TPCC chief.

Expressing happiness that his proposal has been accepted by the PAC, former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao said, “A statue of Ambedkar will be installed in the Madina area of Old City near the High Court.”

Congress MLA Sreedhar Babu, said, “A 20-day programme to highlight the failures of BRS at the mandal, block and assembly constituency levels will be announced shortly. We will also put forth what we wish to do once we come to power. The 30 per cent commission BRS government will get a befitting reply in polls.”
