Last chance to Jagan to counter plea to cancel bail

CBI Court gives time till June 1 to him and CBI

Hyderabad: The CBI court at Hyderabad on Wednesday gave the last opportunity to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy and the CBI, to file their contentions by June 1, in a petition filed by Narsapur parliamentary constituency Member Kanumuri Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, who requested the court to cancel the bail granted to Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

The CBI court had on two occasions earlier directed both the CM and the CBI to file counters stating their contentions against the petition. However, on Wednesday also both the respondents sought more time to file counters. Ashok Reddy, the counsel for Jagan, submitted that the counter affidavit has been ready, but, due to the lockdown they could not file before the court.
On the other hand, Venkatesh, the counsel for Raju, said that Jagan Mohan Reddy only wanted to prolong the hearing of case with an intention to delay the filing of his affidavit. The counsel for CBI submitted that they were waiting for some instructions from the CBI headquarters to file the affidavit.

Agreeing to the request of both parties for some more time to file their affidavits, the court hinted that it was the last chance for both the respondents to file affidavits; otherwise, the court would go for arguments to decide the case.
