Hope Bedi demits office: Pondicherry CM

\"I had written on several occasions that the elected ministry should not be overlooked,\" he said.

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday expressed hope Lt Governor Kiran Bedi will demit the post as announced earlier as she is going to complete two years in office on May 29.

"Ms Bedi had earlier said that she would quit the post in May next year on completion of two years in office. I hope she would keep her word and quit the post," said the Chief Minister while talking to reporters here.

Referring to Bedi's direct interactions with government officials, and interference in the day to day affairs of the government the Chief Minister said that on several occasions he had written letters to Ms Bedi the statutory provisions of the elected government.

"I had written on several occasions that the elected ministry should not be overlooked," he said.

Replying to a question on the contribution of the Lt Governor to the development of Puducherry for the past two years the Chief Minister said the people are aware of the fact that her part in the development of Puducherry is not even one percentage.

Talking on the four years of NDA government at the Centre, Mr Narayanasamy said that BJP government has failed in all aspects and did not deliver the promises given to people.

"The union government had gifted only hardships to the people through its policies.

"People are suffering here. The government failed to deliver any of its policies. Suicide by farmers is on the rise and there is no job opportunity for youth," he said.

Attacking the government on the hike in fuel price, the senior Congress leader said the people in the country wish to end the rule of NDA at centre as early as possible.
