VS Achuthanandan to attend Kerala NGO union meet

More than 1,000 delegates from different parts of the state are expected to take part in the event.

MALAPPURAM: The 53rd state conference of the Kerala NGO Union, the largest organisation of civil servants in the state, will be held from Saturday to Monday in Malappuram. Senior CPM leader and adviser to the government V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the three-day conference on Saturday.

More than 1,000 delegates from different parts of the state are expected to take part in the event. Seminars and lectures on safety of women, state policies, and efficiency of civil service will also be held during the event.

“The meet will discuss measures to enhance the efficiency of civil service. We also hope that the new LDF government will look into the withdrawal of Participatory Pension Scheme in the state,” said T.C. Mathukutty, general secretary of the Union.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will attend the concluding session on Monday. This will be the CM’s first public event in the district after assuming office. Apart from the CM, other Cabinet ministers including finance minister T.M Thomas Isaac, education minister C. Raveendranath, Mathew T. Thomas and Kadannapalli Ramachandran will also attend various sessions at the conference.
