Kalaburagi: SCs come together, to field community candidate

The Congress and BJP have neglected us by deciding to field Lambani candidates.

Kalaburagi: In a significant development which may have a big impact on the Chincholi Assembly bypoll, leaders of the Left and Right groups among the Scheduled Castes here came together on one platform to voice their opposition to the decision by both the Congress and BJP to choose Lambani leaders as their candidates while giving short shrift to untouchables in this reserved constituency.

The leaders of these groups, who met at the samadhi of former CM late Veerendra Patil, decided to field a candidate from either the Left or Right groups to take on the candidates of the Congress and BJP. “The Congress and BJP have neglected us by deciding to field Lambani candidates. This goes against the basic tenets of the Constitution, which is for empowering untouchables. Let us all forget our differences and put up our community candidate to take on the candidates fielded by these parties. This is only way to demonstrate our strength,” the leaders who spoke on the occasion, opined.

Prominent among those who took part in the meeting are Bheemarao Tegalatippi, former President of the Zilla Panchayat, Ramesh Yakapur, President, Samaj Jagran Manch; Gopalrao Kattimaini, District President, Maadiga Meesalati Horata Samiti, Sanjeevan Yakapur, zilla panchayat member and Gautham Bommanahalli, BSP Leader.

These leaders are learnt to have decided to field Gopalrao Kattimani as their candidate.
