Congress\' intent corrupt, leadership confused, says PM Modi

PM Modi said that the demonetisation was opposed by hoarders of black money and their well wishers.

Jabalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched scathing attack on Congress, describing current state of affairs in the party as “niyat bhrast, neta bhram, and niti bhataki hui” (corrupt intent, confused leadership, and misguided policy).

Addressing an election meeting here, Mr Modi said thart demonetisation has laid bare the true face of Congress which was yet to reconcile to the setback it has suffered because of the drastic measure undertaken by his government to dig out black money.

He said that the demonetisation was opposed by hoarders of black money and their well wishers. The move had caused pains to Congress because the black money invested by some of its leaders in shell companies had gone down the drain following note ban move.

“Over three lakh fake companies established with black money have been closed down by the government following demonetisation. The people who had lost their money due to the measure were up in arms against me”, he said, adding, “Congress had even tried to provoke people to raise voice against my government”.

But, common people had hailed the demonetisation despite the inconvenience caused to them by the move, he said, and added, “This clearly indicates how Congress is cut off from the mass”.

“Congress and the leaders of Mahagathaban have been targeting me for destroying their ‘note tantra’ with demonetisation. They are shuffling pages of dictionary looking for harsh words to use them against me”, he added

He also lamented that Congress had made a mockery of his Swachh Bharat Yojana which had taken the form of mass movement in the country. The move had restored dignity of thousands of women and girls particularly in rural areas following establishment of toilets in their houses under the scheme.
