21-year-old delivers child in examination centre in Jharkhand

The college authorities were put in a fix when Bharti went into labour half-an-hour into the exam.

Dhanbad: In a bizarre turn of events, authorities at the examination centre in Saria College, Giridh district of Jharkhand, found themselves being the tested ones, after they had to supervise the labour of a student attending her final year exams.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, 21-year-old Bharit Kumari who reached the examination venue after travelling on a bumpy road, in a three wheeler for over two hours, was seemingly alright when she reached the venue just minutes before the exam commenced.

But the college authorities were put in a fix when Bharti went into labour half-an-hour into the exam.

Though a medical team was dispatched from a nearby nursing home after frantic attempts by the college authorities, Kumari had already delivered the child by the time they reached.

Both mother and child were rushed to the hospital where they were declared safe and discharged around 3 pm.

Thanking God for the safe delivery, examination centre superintendent Arun Kumar said, “The moment she suffered labour pains, our colleague Professor Vinita Kumari rushed in and tried taking the patient to an empty room but she delivered the child on the way.”

“Though other examinees were disturbed for a few minutes, all's well that ends well,” said a grateful Kumar.
