KT Rama Rao dares Uttam Kumar Reddy to quit Assembly, enter LS fray

Mr Rama Rao said that Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy was claiming every day that he would win the Nalgonda seat.

Hyderabad: TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao challenged Telangana Congress president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to quit his Assembly seat if he was confident that he would win the April 11 election from the Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, who won from the Huzurnagar Assembly seat in the elections in December last year, is contesting for the Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket.

Mr Rama Rao said that Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy was claiming every day that he would win the Nalgonda seat. “If he is so confident of winning the seat, I challenge him to resign as MLA,” Mr Rama Rao said. He was speaking at an event to admit Congress leader Bhikshamayya Goud from Nalgonda and others into the TRS on Tuesday at Telangana Bhavan.

Mr Rama Rao said the Congress had given Lok Sabha tickets to leaders who were defeated in the Assembly elections. “How will Congress leaders who were not able to win the Assembly elections win the Lok Sabha elections? Just three months ago the people have voted for the TRS. In the Lok Sabha elections also they will vote for the TRS.”

Mr Rama Rao said the people of the county did not want a chowkidar; they wanted a “dildar (generous) and zimmedar (responsible) leader like KCR.” He said if the TRS won 16 Lok Sabha seats, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would become a key person in national politics.

“BJP leaders feel that they are the founders of Hinduism and for the last 30 years they have been speaking about constructing the Ram Mandir. KCR without speaking a word is developing the Yadadri temple with `2,000 crore,” Mr Rama Rao said.

Mr Rama Rao said the TRS was the party of the Telangana people, and told them not to vote for others.

KTR to begin road shows from Sircilla

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao will intensify the election campaign for the party from Wednesday. According to the tour schedule of Mr Rama Rao released on Tuesday, he will conduct road shows and public meetings in several constituencies.
