Congress leader Sunitha Laxmareddy to join TRS on April 3
Hyderabad: Former minister and Medak Congress president Sunitha Laxmareddy has decided to join the TRS, following the long line of leaders moving into the ruling party.
On Tuesday morning, Ms Laxmareddy met TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and discussed the matter of her joining the TRS. She will join the TRS in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at a public meeting at Narsapur in Medak district on April 3.
The BJP had tried to persuade Ms Laxmareddy to join the party and nominate her from Medak, sources said. TRS leaders also invited her to join her the ruling party.
Ms Laxmareddy had turned down the offers and had said she would continue with the Congress. She finally came around to the idea of joining the TRS and met with Mr Rama Rao.
Meanwhile, reports said TRS MP A.P. Jithender Reddy who was denied the Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha ticket would join the BJP. It was said that BJP leaders had been in touch with him and that he would join the party on March 29 in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, when DC contacted Mr Jithender Reddy on this, he condemned the reports and said it was only a media speculation.
