Irked Moily: I don't want the Karkala seat for son Harsha

Apart from this, the party decided to train its booth agents on how the electronic voting machines (EVMs) function.

Bengaluru: After a twitter war over the nexus between contractors and a minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet, veteran Congress leader, M. Veerappa Moily has reportedly suggested that the party should not even recommend his son Harsha Moily's name for the Karkala seat.

After a meeting on Monday, a senior leader disclosed that Mr Moily was apparently upset with the fact that his son was served a show-cause notice for the "ill-timed" tweet. "I do not want to further embarrass the party by asking for a ticket for my son, I wish to bury the issue once and for all," he reportedly told the Congress selection committee.

Apart from this, the party decided to train its booth agents on how the electronic voting machines (EVMs) function. Besides this, party booth agents along with block level leaders will go on a door-to-door campaign to train voters on how to cast their votes using EVMs.

Party leaders like AICC general secretary, K.C. Venugopal and Congress leader in Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge along with the CM and KPCC president, held a closed door meeting with disgruntled housing minister, M. Krishnappa who reportedly assured party leaders that he and his MLA son, Priya Krishna would remain in the party. "We are not leaving this party, which has given us everything," he told leaders who were present.

It may be recalled that Mr Krishnappa's absence during Congress president, Rahul Gandhi's rally in Mandya had triggered speculation that he was planning to quit the party along with his son. "Krishnappa was miffed with the fact that the SPG cordoned off the place as soon as Mr Gandhi reached Mandya and he could not reach the venue in time and so he left in a huff,” a source said.
