CM Chandrasekhar Rao cracks whip on Bhagiratha officials

He advised officials to link the MGNREG scheme to Mission Bhagiratha and utilise the labour for laying of pipelines for the mega project.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has made it clear to officials that the maximum area in the state must be provided with tap water under the Mission Bhagiratha by the year-end.

Mr Rao also wanted the officials to expedite supply of promised tapped water to nine constituencies — Jangoan, Station Ghanpur, Bhuvanagiri, Aler, Palakurthi, Dubbak, Siddipet, Gajwel and Medchal — by April-end.

He advised officials to link the MGNREG scheme to Mission Bhagiratha and utilise the labour for laying of pipelines for the mega project.

The CM also instructed TS Transco and Genco officials to work in tandem with Mission Bhagiratha officials for at least 10 days a month to ensure speedy completion of the scheme and complete pipeline laying in agricultural fields before June.

“Ensure the pipes are of high quality. Also utilise students with engineering and technical backgrounds for engineering works. We have to provide tapped drinking water to the maximum number of villages in the state by the year-end,” Mr Rao said.

The Chief Minister also made it clear that contractors would have to maintain the pipelines after completion of the project.
