Work for uplift of suppressed classes, says TDP MLC Dokka
GUNTUR: Telugu Desam MLC and former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad Rao lamented that there were forces in society which aim to suppress women and prevent their empowerment.
The new generation has the responsibility to ensure and work for the uplift of these suppressed classes.
The Dalit Sthree Sakthi (DSS) organised a seminar on “constitution-governance” on the occasion of Republic Day at Guntur on Friday. Addressing the seminar Mr Rao said that there were two groups in society with one fighting for their welfare and rights and the other for power and development. He lamented that the public was shunning morals which is very bad for the society. He opined that getting justice seems to have become a mirage from local panchayats to apex courts.
He asserted on the need to acquire good education and use constitutional rights by the suppressed classes and women for development and empowerment.
Former MLC K.S. Lakshm-ana Rao opined that real development and change in society would come only when the provisions under the Constitution are implemented in full.
Principal secretary to AP government (welfare) K. Praveen Kumar said that B.R. Ambedkar had put rights of women in the Constitution but still women have been failing to see much develop and sought to get awareness about their constitutional rights. DSS national convener G. Jhansi and other leaders addressed the meeting and sought measures by the government for the empowerment of Dalit women.
