Tension in Gudivada after TD, YSRC clash

Vijayawada: Tension gripped Gudivada in Krishna district on Sunday following clashes between TD and YSR Congress activists over organising the death anniversary of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.

Former TD MLA Ravi Venkateswara Rao alleged that as he is going to hold a programme on the occasion of Mohana Ranga’s death anniversary on Monday, YSRC leader Merugumala Kaali called him over the phone and threatened to kill him if he went ahead with the anniversary meeting.

Following this, Venkateswara Rao reached the TD office to inform leaders and cadres about the threat. As the news spread, a large number of TD workers rushed to the party office in Gudivada.

YSRC’s Kaali and his followers too reached the TD office following which clashes erupted between the two groups. Police plunged into action and separated both groups. Police managed to send Kaali away. However, TD activists then tried to reach Kaali’s house to attack him. Police resorted to the lathi charge and dispersed TD workers.

TD AP president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu condemned the attack by YSRC on the TD office. He alleged that YSRC MLA Kodali Nani is behind the attack and demanded stern action against Nani and Kaali.
