Good news for jobseekers in Telangana

Govt likely to issue notifications in new year to fill 50,000 vacancies

Hyderabad: The five-year-long wait of students, unemployed youth and government job-seekers for the state’s job notifications is set to end in the new year.

Sources said there will be clarity on the number of vacancies in each district after the ongoing transfer of employees ends on January 10. This will pave the way for the issuance of job notifications to fill vacancies.

The notifications were stopped in October 2016, when the government reorganised the districts from 10 to 31 and subsequently brought in a zonal system and reserved 95 per cent jobs to locals in jobs in all districts and zones.

The government divided the 31 districts into seven zones and two multi-zones in May 2018, and sent the plan to the Centre for clearance. The approval was received in August 2018.

But the dissolution of Legislative Assembly in September 2018 and early polls in December 2018 halted the notifications again.

The government's decision to create two more districts in 2019, taking the total to 33, and altering the districts in a few zones stalled the process again as the Centre's approval was required afresh.

The Centre kept the approval pending till April 2021.

There was a further delay because the incumbent employees had to be distributed among the new districts based on their population. The allocation of employees to new districts and zones started last week and is expected to end by January first week.

This will give a picture of vacancies in governments, and hiring can begin.

Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao had in December 2020 announced that the government would to fill 50,000 vacancies. Recently, he told media personnel in the press conference that vacancies are expected to increase to 80,000.

Official sources said the government is planning to issue job notifications by March and start the recruitment process in from April in the new financial 2022-23.
